Julie’s Bio

Dr. Julie Oxenford-O’Brian is the Director of the Center for Transforming Learning and Teaching (CTLT) at the University of Colorado Denver. CTLT works with educators across the US to catalyze and co-create the transformation of learning environments through the use of assessment so that all are engaged in learning and empowered to positively contribute in a global society. Her expertise is in the areas of, standards-based education, using assessment to support learning/formative assessment, data-driven instructional practice, educational accountability, improvement planning, educator effectiveness, education policy, and educator professional development. When she isn’t working, Julie enjoys attending her step-daughter’s sports events, writing songs with her husband, playing violin, hiking, back-country skiing, white-water canoe paddling, reading fiction, and engaging with family and friends.
